Abstract
Dane County Mental Center is a private, nonprofit, corporation governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Founded in 1948 as Dane County¡¯s first publicly supported Child Guidance Clinic. It has grown over the years to become a comprehensive community-based mental health & alcohol and other drug treatment center-nationally recognized for providing progressive community-based services to high-need persons across all age ranges. Although the majority of funding comes from contracts with the county, the Mental Health Center is also a recipient of numerous state, federal, and private foundation grants.
1) The overall goal of the Child, Adolescent and Family Services Program is to provide a comprehensive program of clinically and culturally competent assessment, intervention, treatment and referral services for families experiencing serious mental health, alcohol and other drug abuse and/or child welfare problems, with the primary focus being on safety, skill building and behavioral change.
2) The Youth Crisis Program is a mobile crisis intervention service for Dane County children/youth with special mental health needs.
3) The Community Support Program(CSP) is a comprehensive support program serving Dane County redisents who have severe and long term mental illness. The CSPs are responsible for providing intensive, system-wide case management.
4) Yahara House offers adults with serious persistent mental illness a path to recovery through relationships and work. It is a membership-based program with an emphasis on people helping each other.
5) The Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Treatment Program provides a wide range of outpatient services to assist AoDA-involved individuals to resolve problems related to the use of alcohol and other drugs.
6) The goal of Adult Clinical Services is to help consumers identify and utilize internal and external resources to improve coping skills.
7) Goals of the Emergency Services Program are : 1) to enhance the well-being of persons in emotional crisis, taking advantage of the emotional crisis period ; 2) to prevent suicides.
The Mental Health Center of Dane County exists so that individuals and families with mental health problems can live their lives in ways that are productive, healthy, meaningful and satisfying to them.
